Sunflower season about to begin!

The sunflowers are slowly opening up in their tens and hundreds but still approx 100,000 left to open so there is some to pick but photographers need wait until probably the middle to end of next week - but the lavender is still very good and there are many still in bud with the flower to follow - so the purple will definitely clash with the yellow!

Sunflowers are almost here!

Later varieties are yet to bloom and the bulk of the field is looking great for another 3 weeks! Will definitely get the sunflower and lavender clash!!!

A magnificent day!

We are still on cloud nine and will be for some time for having been privileged to have met The Queen! For us to have made Her Majesty a lavender bouquet from our fields was honour enough! After asking us about the farms history and showing real interest in what we do, The Queen smiled broadly and told us that they also grow lavender at Sandringham!

First purple!

It's stopped raining - so if you're close by its free for the time being to go into the fields as due to the recent poor weather some of the lavenders are a bit behind. However there are some rows beginning to blossom nicely! and the shop/restaurant is open!! Still a few weeks though until the bulk of the crop goes purple!!!! See you soon

How the lavender is looking!

Its a scorcher - why not get yourselves down to Hitchin Lavender! The fields are very green at the moment so you wont see the purple just yet! but we do a mean cream tea and there are plenty of smashing proucts too browse through and plenty of lavender plants as well. It's free to wander around for another few weeks as well.

Hitchin Lavender is now OPEN but remember if you are coming from afar that the lavender WONT be in bloom until around MID-JUNE! The tea room is looking stunning and all our products and plants are available for purchase and it is free to wander around as we prepare for the flowering season!

Two weeks to go

Just two weeks to go now and we're busy rushing about attempting to get everything ready for 5th May - the barn is coming together nicely as are the plants that we're digging up from the nursery - the rain has been great for them..but... has also been a bit too nice for the weeds as well!

Saturday, 14 April 2012

Hitchin Lavender will be opening for the season this year on Saturday 5th May (that's just three weeks away!) Loads of new products, lots more lavender plants and still a lovely place for a cup of tea!
